A study in 2019 has shown that, over the past seven years, the number of 13- to 16-year-olds who wear glasses in the U.K. has almost doubled. In 2012, only 20% of children in their early teens needed glasses. Now it's 35%. 

What is more, 11 million Americans have some form of macular degeneration - the leading cause of blindness - today. Based on current statistics, this will double to nearly 22 million by 2050.

Diagnosis of myopia - short sight - in children has doubled in one generation.
